A highly collectible archive piece presented in excellent vintage condition. The leather remains beautifully structured with vibrant colour retention, the signature hardware is well preserved, and the bag includes its original Authenticity Card. There is one small superficial scratch on the upper front quilted leather panel (shown in the final image), which is minor and does not detract from the overall appearance. Otherwise, the bag presents exceptionally well for its age.

An exceptionally rare Christian Dior by John Galliano Runway Cadillac Saddle Bag, one of the most distinctive and collectible handbags from Galliano’s celebrated Dior years. Inspired by the sweeping lines and chrome detailing of classic American Cadillacs, this sculptural design perfectly captures Galliano’s theatrical approach to fashion, transforming automotive design into wearable couture.

Constructed in a striking combination of smooth racing-red leather and perforated black quilted leather, the bag features streamlined bodywork-inspired curves, oversized chrome detailing and signature “headlight” motifs positioned on both sides of the front panel. At the centre sits the iconic “CHRIS·1947” Montaigne plaque, referencing the founding year of the House and serving as one of the defining design elements of this celebrated runway model.

The reverse continues the automotive inspiration with sculpted body panels and polished chrome hardware, creating a silhouette unlike any other handbag produced during the era. Every angle reflects Galliano’s fascination with movement, speed and dramatic storytelling, making this far more than a handbag—it is a true collector’s design object.
