Product Description
A rare 2003-era Christian Dior by John Galliano runway piece, featuring a distinctly utilitarian and punk-inspired interpretation of military trousers. Crafted in a muted military green cotton, the trousers combine functional cargo construction with an extensive system of straps, buckles, eyelets and hardware details.
The front features a distinctive double-buckle waist construction, with additional adjustable leather-look straps extending around the waistband. Multiple utility pockets and zip/button closures reinforce the military character, while the articulated construction around the knees creates a sculptural, fitted silhouette.
The most distinctive detail comes at the hem: each leg is finished with wide adjustable strap-and-buckle closures and rows of metal eyelets, allowing the leg opening to be tightened into a gathered, tapered shape. This creates the characteristic punk bondage / military aesthetic frequently associated with John Galliano’s early-2000s Dior collections.
The trousers are constructed with numerous carefully considered details throughout, including branded hardware, snap-button cargo pockets, reinforced paneling and layered strap construction. The contrast between the soft military cotton and the substantial metal hardware gives the piece a particularly strong archival character.
The original Christian Dior Boutique Paris label is present, with the tag indicating FR 38 / GB 10 / D 36 / USA 6 and Made in France construction.
A highly collectible example of John Galliano-era Dior’s military and punk vocabulary, with a strong runway-era aesthetic that feels particularly relevant to contemporary archival fashion.
