An exceptionally rare CHRISTIAN DIOR BY JOHN GALLIANO 2002 runway piece, showcasing one of Galliano’s most theatrical approaches to denim. The trousers are crafted from deep indigo denim with an exaggerated flared silhouette, transformed through extensive hand-finished embroidery and elaborate decorative detailing throughout the lower leg.
The most striking feature is the highly intricate embroidered paneling extending across both legs. Rich red, gold and blue geometric motifs are layered with numerous dimensional embellishments, including mother-of-pearl buttons, metal studs and metallic decorative elements, creating an almost couture-like surface against the utilitarian denim base.
The sides feature elaborate lace-up constructions with tonal denim cords, adding an adjustable, deconstructed element to the silhouette. At the waist, a distinctive sculptural gold-tone metal Dior waist plaque is integrated into the fastening system, functioning as both hardware and a statement design element. The combination of the plaque, straps and exposed hardware gives the trousers an unmistakably archival Galliano character.
